UAE to Replace ID Cards with Advanced Facial Recognition Technology

The United Arab Emirates is set to replace traditional ID cards with a state-of-the-art facial recognition system, enabling citizens and residents to access government services and airport facilities with ease. The new biometric system, incorporating facial recognition and fingerprints, is part of the nation’s digital strategy and will be powered by Artificial Intelligence. This system promises enhanced security and efficiency, particularly at airports, where passengers will experience quicker, document-free travel. Already implemented at major airports like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the biometric system is expected to be rolled out nationwide within a year.
