The government has formulated a comprehensive strategy to lower electricity tariffs.
As per Samaa News, this plan aims to reduce electricity costs by more than Rs. 2.71 per unit.
Improving the transmission system’s efficiency is expected to decrease tariffs by 71 paisas.
Transitioning power plants from imported coal to Thar coal could further reduce the tariff by Rs. 2 per unit.
Additionally, all diesel-powered tube wells nationwide will be converted to solar energy.
A government-appointed task force is actively negotiating with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) to achieve further reductions in electricity costs.
