UNGA President Praises India’s Digital Transformation and Rural Banking Expansion

The President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Dennis Francis, has praised India’s efforts in digital transformation and expanding banking services to rural areas.
He attributed the lifting of 800 million Indians out of poverty over the past five to six years to the widespread use of smartphones.
Francis highlighted the profound impact of digitization in India’s rural areas.
He noted that residents who previously lacked access to banking and payment systems are now able to manage transactions, pay bills, and receive payments through their smartphones.
