Gohar Ejaz Criticizes Rs. 10 Billion Monthly Payments to Non-Productive IPPs

Former Caretaker Minister Alleges Misuse of Public Funds

Islamabad: Former caretaker Federal Minister Gohar Ejaz has criticized the government for disbursing Rs. 10 billion monthly to four Independent Power Producers (IPPs) without any electricity generation. He claims that public earnings are being funneled to 40 families under the guise of Capacity Payments.
Ejaz urged the government to stop exploiting consumers and misusing public funds. He highlighted that half of the IPPs are operating at less than 10% capacity while still receiving significant payments.
