Japan Implements Three-Day Weekend Scheme to Boost Birth Rate

To address Japan’s declining birth rate, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has introduced a three-day weekend scheme for its employees, starting in April. This initiative aims to improve the fertility rate, which currently stands at 1.2, well below the necessary 2.1 for population stability. Additionally, the government plans to reduce working hours for parents of schoolchildren, although this will lead to a salary decrease.
