Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, a pivotal leader of the Pakistan Movement, and a close confidant of Quaid-e-Azam, is being remembered today on his 73rd death anniversary with great honor and respect.
On October 16, 1951, Liaquat Ali Khan was tragically assassinated while addressing a public gathering in Rawalpindi. His final words were, “May God protect Pakistan.”
In addition to his role in Pakistan’s history, Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan served as the last Finance Minister of united India. Born on October 1, 1895, in Karnal, he pursued his education at Oxford University, where he earned a law degree.
