In the last fiscal year, 33 Independent Power Producers (IPPs) received substantial sums in capacity charges.
The Ministry of Energy, in a written statement to the National Assembly, revealed that a total of Rs 979.3 billion was paid to 33 IPPs as capacity charges.
As reported by Business Recorder, the Federal Minister for Energy stated that China Power Hub Generation Company (CPHGC) was paid Rs 137.02 billion, Huang Shandong Ruyi Energy (Private) Limited received Rs 113.71 billion, Port Qasim Electric Power Company (PQEPC) was allocated Rs 120.37 billion, while Lucky Electric Power Company Limited (LEPCL) received Rs 57.32 billion. Additionally, Thal Nova Power Limited was paid Rs 33.096 billion, Thar Energy Limited received Rs 33.175 billion, Thar Coal Block One Power Generation Company (Private) Limited received Rs 159.9 billion, and Engro Powergen Thar (Private) Limited was allocated Rs 63.423 billion.
