Israel Strikes Humanitarian Camp in Khan Younis, Gaza: 40 Dead, 60 Injured

In a recent escalation of the ongoing conflict, Israeli airstrikes targeted a tent encampment in the al-Mawasi humanitarian zone of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, resulting in the deaths of at least 40 Palestinians and injuries to around 60 others. The camp, housing displaced individuals from other areas of Gaza, was hit by multiple missiles, causing significant destruction including fires and deep craters.

Gaza’s civil defense reported that at least 20 tents were set ablaze and recovery operations are ongoing. They described the attack as a new “massacre” amidst the conflict’s 340th day. The Israeli military claimed the strike was aimed at Hamas fighters allegedly operating within the camp, a claim denied by Hamas, which labeled the accusation as a “blatant lie.”
