New Era for Jamaat-e-Islami: Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman Champions Public Concerns with Bold Electricity Strike Call

Senior journalist Mazhar Abbas wrote an article titled “Electricity Strike and the Public” in the Daily Jang. Mazhar Abbas stated, “After a long time, a political party has called for a strike on ‘public issues,’ and that too on a working day. Whether this strike succeeds or not depends on the people themselves because there is hardly any household in the country that has not been affected by the ‘electricity bill,’ which falls like a thunderbolt every month. Under the weight of this bill, a person from the middle class is especially burdened. Either you become an electricity thief or dedicate a significant portion of your salary to it. Whether today’s shutter-down or wheel-jam succeeds, the Jamaat-e-Islami and its new Amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman are certainly deserving of congratulations for not only raising their voice on public issues but also for attempting to change the political demeanor of the party.”
