Govt Employees Receive Rs6,000 Monthly in Free Electricity: Energy Minister

Power sector employees receive Rs6,000 worth of free electricity each month, a benefit the government aims to discontinue once ongoing legal cases are resolved, Energy Minister Awais Leghari stated. He proposed salary increases as an alternative and highlighted the financial burden of solar net metering, which has added Rs103 billion in costs for regular consumers. The government is working on strategies to provide surplus electricity at lower rates while ensuring a balanced impact on the public.
