Punjab Assembly Approves Major Salary Hike for Lawmakers and Ministers

The Punjab Assembly has approved a significant salary hike for its members and officials. MPAs’ salaries have been increased from PKR 76,000 to PKR 400,000, while ministers will now earn PKR 960,000, up from PKR 100,000. The Speaker’s salary rises to PKR 950,000, and the Deputy Speaker’s to PKR 775,000. Chief Minister’s advisors will also see their salaries increase to PKR 665,000. The bill, presented by Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, passed with a majority vote despite opposition leader Ahmed Khan Bhachar’s objections.
