Jamaat-e-Islami Challenges 26th Constitutional Amendment in the Supreme Court, Calls for Judicial Review

Jamaat-e-Islami has formally challenged the 26th Constitutional Amendment in the Supreme Court, requesting its declaration as null and void.
The Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has submitted a petition against the 26th Constitutional Amendment to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The petition asserts that the 26th Constitutional Amendment violates the fundamental structure of the Constitution and undermines the independence of the judiciary; hence, it should be declared null and void.
Furthermore, it contends that the appointment of the Chief Justice of Pakistan should be based solely on seniority, arguing that the selection of the Chief Justice through a parliamentary committee is unconstitutional.
