Mohammad Rizwan Emerges as Leading Candidate for Pakistan Team Captaincy Post-Babar Azam’s Resignation

Mohammad Rizwan has emerged as a prominent candidate for the captaincy of the Pakistan cricket team, while Mohammad Haris is also being considered for the T20 leadership role.

In the wake of Babar Azam’s resignation from the captaincy of white-ball formats, Rizwan is seen as a leading contender for the ODI captaincy.

Reports circulating within the Pakistan Cricket Board indicate that Rizwan is being viewed as a strong candidate for this important role.

Sources suggest that head coach Gary Kirsten expressed a desire to relieve Babar Azam of the T20 captaincy, favoring the appointment of a younger player for the position.

Following this development, Babar Azam decided to relinquish the captaincy across both formats.

In addition, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris is also being discussed as a potential candidate for the T20 captaincy.
