Germany to Deny Citizenship to Individuals Using Pro-Palestine Slogan Online
Germany has announced that individuals who share, like, or comment on the slogan “From the river to the sea” on social media will be ineligible for citizenship. This policy, reported by North German Radio and Television (NDR), reflects the government’s stance on expressions associated with support for Palestine.
According to new regulations issued by the German Interior Ministry, the use of this slogan, which dates back to the 1960s and calls for the complete liberation of Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, will disqualify individuals from obtaining German citizenship.
This decision comes in the wake of Germany’s dual citizenship law, which was enacted on June 27.
