Monis Alvi to Sindh Assembly: ‘Cancel Our License, Government Should Handle Electricity Supply

Monis Alvi, CEO of K-Electric, made a formal request during a special committee meeting of the Sindh Assembly.

He proposed that the committee consider revoking K-Electric’s operating license and that the government take over the direct management of electricity supply.

Mr. Alvi emphasized that while K-Electric is responsible for implementing load shedding measures, it does not have authority over setting electricity rates.

“We are prepared to relinquish our license,” he stated. According to media reports, the committee members remained silent in response to Mr. Alvi’s comments.

K-Electric is currently facing considerable public criticism due to high electricity tariffs and ongoing load shedding issues in Karachi.
