Al-Khidmat Foundation Earns High Praise from UN Secretary-General for Effective Flood Relief Operations

Muhammad Abdul Shakoor, the former President of Al-Khidmat Foundation, shared on social media that in 2022, Pakistan faced devastating floods, affecting 35 million people across three provinces. These individuals were struggling to survive amidst the inundation. The global community observed the humanitarian response to this crisis, noting who was providing essential aid such as water, food, medicine, and shelter.

On September 10th, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres visited Pakistan to evaluate the flood situation. After assessing the affected areas, he arrived in Islamabad. The UN office in Islamabad reached out, requesting a meeting with prominent business figures and the President of Al-Khidmat Foundation that evening. UN officials highlighted that wherever Antonio Guterres traveled, he observed Al-Khidmat Foundation’s active and impactful involvement. I expressed gratitude to Allah for the recognition of Al-Khidmat’s efforts.

That evening, we convened in Islamabad for the meeting with the Secretary-General. The Secretary-General and all attendees were highly impressed with the work of Al-Khidmat Foundation. This level of recognition from the UN Secretary-General was a testament to the commitment, relentless service, and special blessings bestowed upon Al-Khidmat’s volunteers.
