Jamaat-e-Islami to Decide Next Steps as Deadline Approaches: Strike, Long March, and Islamabad Power Show on the Table

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, has announced that the 45-day period granted to the government to implement the agreement will expire on September 23. Jamaat-e-Islami will soon disclose its subsequent course of action. The party has various options, including strikes, long marches, and a demonstration in Islamabad, while the government’s sole option is to deliver relief to the public.

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman affirmed Jamaat-e-Islami’s opposition to extensions for judges, underscoring that a principle of seniority already exists. He urged those who supported the extension for General Bajwa to come forward and justify their stance, questioning if the coming year will continue to be marked by empty promises.

He also criticized the privatization policy for national institutions, specifically condemning the privatization of K-Electric as a prime example of failure. He argued that national institutions are first undermined by biased appointments, and when previously profitable entities fall into loss, the solution proposed is to sell them off. Jamaat-e-Islami rejects indiscriminate privatization and the sale of national assets.
