Speaker Ayaz Sadiq Suspends Sergeant at Arms, Four Others After PTI Leaders Arrests

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq suspended Sergeant at Arms Muhammad Ishfaq Ashraf and four security officials for four months over a security lapse following the arrest of several PTI lawmakers within the Parliament premises.

The suspended officials include Security Assistant Waqas Ahmed and junior officers Obaidullah, Waheed Safdar, and Muhammad Haroon. The arrests, linked to violations of the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Bill, 2024, sparked outrage, prompting Sadiq to demand accountability from Islamabad’s police chief. PTI lawmakers, including Barrister Gohar Khan, were taken into custody but have since been released.
