According to Express News, the federal government has shared a plan with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reduce electricity prices by 6 rupees per unit. The global financial institution has requested further details on this plan.
As per Express News, the federal government aims to cover the reduction by cutting allocations from the Public Sector Development Program, ending subsidies given to certain sectors in the budget, taking some commercial loans, and using dividends (profits) from state-owned enterprises.
