Jamaat-e-Islami to Lead Nation-wide Strike on August 28th Over Economic Strain and Tax Burdens

Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the ruling class is the patron of IPPs (Independent Power Producers). He mentioned that the unjust taxes and capacity charges included in electricity bills have significantly increased the per-unit price. In this situation, neither the economy can function, nor can a household manage its expenses.
The shutter-down strike on August 28th is a protest to keep the wheels of the economy running and against the oppressive burden of taxes on the public and businesses.
