Chinese EV Giant BYD to Establish Manufacturing Plant Near Port Qasim, Karachi

BYD, a leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced plans to set up a factory near Port Qasim in Karachi in collaboration with a local partner. The company aims to launch three of its models in Pakistan, the world’s fifth-largest country by population. The plant is expected to be operational by the first half of 2026. In addition, BYD plans to open showrooms in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. In 2023, BYD recorded sales of 3 million units globally
