During the hearing of the petition on the municipal tax in K-Electric bills, the Sindh High Court issued notices to the Mayor of Karachi and other concerned parties, asking them to submit their response by August 27.
In the petition filed by Jamaat-e-Islami, the federal and provincial governments, the Mayor, and the CEO of K-Electric have been made parties.
The petition states that people are troubled by K-Electric’s poor performance and the increase in prices.
Now, municipal tax has also been included in the electricity bills.
The Mayor of Karachi has outsourced the collection of the municipal tax to K-Electric.
