National Debt Soars from 6.1 Trillion in 2008 to 67.5 Trillion in 2024: Finance Ministry Reveals Senate Report

In 2008, the national debt was 6.1 trillion, reaching 67.5 trillion in 2024. The Ministry of Finance presented details of the loans taken from 2008 to 2024 in the Senate.
Geo News reported that, according to the Ministry of Finance, in June 2008, the national debt stood at 6.1 trillion rupees, which increased to 67.5 trillion rupees by 2024.
According to the details released by the Ministry of Finance, there was an increase of 40.2 trillion in domestic loans and 21.3 trillion rupees in external loans.
The Ministry of Finance stated that in 2019, the debt increased by 7.8 trillion, in 2022 by 9.4 trillion, and in 2023 by 13.6 trillion rupees, while by March 2024, the national debt stood at 67.5 trillion rupees.
