Water Theft Mafia Active in Karachi : Officer Suspended for Uncovering Illegal Hydrants

In a recent revelation, the Daily Express reported that the water theft mafia continues to operate in Karachi, with numerous illegal hydrants functioning across the city. Mirza Ikhlaq Baig, an Assistant Director in the Revenue Department of the Water Corporation, uncovered a massive water theft operation, valued in the billions, involving over a hundred illegal connections from main lines. Following his efforts to curb the theft, Baig has been suspended and has received threats of serious consequences.
